Gatekeeper Resolutions Day 11: Dialing In Your Turnover Shots

Day 11! We’re going to complicate the game from yesterday by throwing turnover shots through the gap. So head back to the football field goal, and set up at a range where you can make a flippy midrange break. I’m going to be using the Discraft Comet, and trying to release it on a slight anhyzer.

  1. The gap being staggered instead of directly in front of us makes it pretty narrow [indicate effective width with arrows] but with an anhyzer release, starting the disc out to the left before breaking through the gap, it will become larger.

  2. The objective here is to take the information about what your disc is doing at the gap and refine your throws accordingly. Don’t try to consciously change your angle, power, or starting location--let your subconscious figure out how to get the right action at the gap.

  3. You “win” the game when you’re more aware of how the disc gets to the gap, and what elements you can vary without really thinking about it in order to do so.

  4. Try other shot shapes, like flex shots, or a different disc stability to add an additional layer of challenge.
