Gatekeeper Resolutions Day 4: Focus On Where Your Disc FINISHES

Day 4! The next three days are going to be a series about learning your aiming points and angles. Get 5-10 of the same disc, something that’s stable enough that it doesn’t turn unless you throw it pretty hard, but isn’t trying to finish immediately. I’m going to use the Discraft Vulture, a stable fairway driver, and find an open field large enough to throw that disc full-flight at about 80% power.

  1. Find a target (a basket, a bag or cone--something visible). Walk away from it to a distance comfortable to throw at about 80%. That target is your aim point, so focus on it during your whole throw--we care about where the disc finishes.

  2. Throw a shot that comes out on HYZER from your hand (not a spike, but clearly more angled than flat) at 90-100% power. Let your body naturally find the amount of angle and height to put on it to finish at the target. You’re schooling up on all your previous throws, so try to be aware of how much angle and height you perceive.

  3. You “win” the game when you can modulate parts of your throw but still have the same finishing location.
